Colossians 4:18

King James Version (1769)

18 The salutation by the hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you. Amen. Written from Rome to the Colossians by Tychicus and Onesimus.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often portray Paul's 'remember my bonds' as a self-pitying demand for pity or release from prison rather than a spiritual exhortation to pray for him and emulate endurance in suffering for Christ, or reduce the closing 'Grace be with you' to a perfunctory sign-off ignoring its profound declaration of grace as the believer's ultimate source of strength and unity, sometimes even twisting it to justify neglecting support for modern persecuted Christians.

Truth

Paul concludes his epistle with a personal autograph in his own handwriting to authenticate it, humbly reminds the Colossians of his imprisonment for preaching the gospel as a call to intercessory prayer and solidarity with persecuted believers, and imparts a final benediction invoking God's grace to empower and sustain the church in faithfulness amid trials.
