Deuteronomy 1:6

King James Version (1769)

6 The Lord our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:
Untruth

Misinterpretations often detach this verse from its historical context of Israel's post-Exodus encampment at Sinai where they received the Torah, leading some to wrongly apply it as a universal mandate against any prolonged stay in one place or as a rebuke for personal complacency without considering God's preparatory purposes; others might see it as divine impatience, ignoring that the 'long enough' period was divinely appointed for covenant establishment, or misuse it to justify rash decisions lacking clear divine leading.

Truth

This verse records God's command to the Israelites at Horeb, declaring they had dwelt long enough there and it was time to depart for the Promised Land, emphasizing divine timing after a period of revelation and preparation through the giving of the Law, urging obedience to advance and possess the inheritance God had sworn to their ancestors, illustrating how God orchestrates seasons of waiting followed by purposeful action in His people's journey.
