Deuteronomy 32:49

King James Version (1769)

49 Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession:
Untruth

Misinterpretations frequently ignore the context of Moses' judgment for striking the rock at Meribah, leading some to wrongly portray this as Moses entering or possessing the land himself rather than merely viewing it from afar, or to misapply it as a universal promise of personal prosperity and leadership success without obedience; others confuse the geography, equating Nebo arbitrarily with other sites, or allegorize it to negate the historical specificity of God's discipline and covenant fulfillment through Israel.

Truth

God directs Moses to ascend Mount Nebo in the Abarim range, overlooking Jericho, to behold the land of Canaan promised as an inheritance to Israel, underscoring divine faithfulness in fulfilling the covenant despite Moses' personal exclusion due to prior disobedience, emphasizing that God's promises to His people endure while individual accountability remains.
