Deuteronomy 3:24

King James Version (1769)

24 O Lord God, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?
Untruth

Misinterpretations often treat this as a magical incantation or prosperity formula to demand personal miracles or success from God, ignoring Moses' context of humble intercession after divine judgments and his own barred entry into the Promised Land; others might see it as Moses boasting about his leadership rather than glorifying God, or dismiss it as mere flattery without acknowledging its role in affirming monotheistic truth against pagan deities amid Israel's wilderness journey.

Truth

Moses offers a profound prayer of awe and praise to God, recognizing His unparalleled greatness and mighty power displayed through mighty acts like the conquests just recounted, declaring that no other deity in heaven or on earth can match His works or strength, which underscores God's absolute sovereignty, uniqueness, and supremacy over all creation, inspiring unwavering trust in His supreme authority and capability.
