Ephesians 4:16

King James Version (1769)

16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Untruth

A frequent misinterpretation reduces this to mere individual spiritual maturity or personal growth without recognizing the corporate nature of the body of Christ, ignoring the essential interconnectedness and active supply from every part; another error promotes hierarchical church structures where only leaders contribute, overlooking the 'effectual working' required from every member in their measure for the whole body's edification in love, or assumes automatic growth without diligent participation.

Truth

This passage portrays the Church as the unified body of Christ, perfectly fitted together and strengthened by the contributions of every joint and member, each operating effectively according to its divinely appointed measure, leading to the body's growth and self-building up in love, emphasizing corporate interdependence and mutual edification rather than isolated individualism.
