Exodus 11:1

King James Version (1769)

1 And the Lord said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often portray God as arbitrarily cruel or prolonging suffering by adding another plague despite prior ones, overlooking the context of Pharaoh's repeated hardening of heart and refusal to release Israel as warned; others might read it as a promise of partial freedom rather than total expulsion, missing the emphasis on complete and forceful ejection; or apply it out of context to endorse modern vengeance or plagues without recognizing its specific role in redemptive history and covenant fulfillment.

Truth

This passage underscores God's sovereign control over the events leading to Israel's exodus from Egypt, announcing to Moses that one final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt will break the ruler's resistance completely, resulting not just in reluctant permission to leave but in Pharaoh urgently driving the Israelites out entirely, thus fulfilling divine promises of deliverance after a series of judgments that demonstrated God's power and Pharaoh's stubbornness.
