Ezekiel 13:20

King James Version (1769)

20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often take the pillows literally as household items under divine curse rather than metaphors for magical veils or cushions used in idolatrous divination, or apply the verse out of context to modern fashion, crafts, or women's activities, ignoring the chapter's focus on false prophecies leading Israel astray; others might see it solely as gender-specific without noting parallel condemnations of male false prophets, or twist it to promote fear of everyday objects instead of highlighting God's justice against exploitative spiritual leaders.

Truth

God pronounces judgment against false prophetesses who use deceptive practices, symbolized by pillows, to ensnare and manipulate people's souls as if hunting birds, promising to tear these instruments from their arms and set the captives free, underscoring His intolerance for spiritual deception and commitment to liberating those victimized by falsehoods in ancient Israel.
