Ezekiel 45:1

King James Version (1769)

1 Moreover, when ye shall divide by lot the land for inheritance, ye shall offer an oblation unto the Lord, an holy portion of the land: the length shall be the length of five and twenty thousand reeds, and the breadth shall be ten thousand. This shall be holy in all the borders thereof round about.
Untruth

Common misinterpretations treat this as a literal mandate for dividing contemporary Israel or building a physical third temple with precise measurements, overlooking its symbolic, prophetic context in Ezekiel's apocalyptic vision of restoration after exile; others wrongly apply it to modern tithing practices for land or finances, ignoring the passage's focus on a future theocratic ideal fulfilled spiritually in Christ and the church as the true temple.

Truth

Ezekiel 45:1 describes a visionary blueprint for Israel's restored land in a prophetic ideal, where the people divide the territory by lot and offer the first, holiest portion to the Lord—a vast sacred district twenty-five thousand cubits long and ten thousand wide—emphasizing God's supreme priority in national life, with the sanctuary at its heart flanked by lands for priests and Levites to ensure undivided devotion and holiness permeate the inheritance.
