Ezra 6:9

King James Version (1769)

9 And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail:
Untruth

This verse is often misinterpreted as a biblical mandate for modern governments to financially support churches or religious activities, or as a promise of endless material abundance for believers' ministries, ignoring its narrow historical context as a specific Persian imperial order to provision Jewish temple rituals during the post-exilic rebuilding under Cyrus and Darius; it neither establishes a timeless principle of state-funded religion nor guarantees personal prosperity, but highlights a unique instance of divine sovereignty using unbelieving authorities.

Truth

Ezra 6:9 records King Darius's decree mandating that Persian officials supply the Jewish priests in Jerusalem with daily provisions—young bullocks, rams, lambs, wheat, salt, wine, and oil—for burnt offerings to the God of heaven, illustrating God's providential care in orchestrating even pagan rulers to fulfill His purposes, ensuring the exiled remnant could faithfully resume temple worship and sacrifices without interruption as part of the restoration promised in Scripture.
