Ezra 7:6

King James Version (1769)

6 This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him.
Untruth

Misinterpretations of this passage often include assuming Ezra's designation as a 'ready scribe' implies he authored or innovated the Law of Moses rather than being an expert copier and teacher of it, or viewing the king's generosity as a guaranteed formula for modern believers where personal Bible study alone secures governmental favor and resources, neglecting the unique historical context of Persian imperial policy toward exiled Jews and the overarching theme of God's sovereign intervention in post-exilic restoration.

Truth

Ezra 7:6 portrays Ezra as a skilled and prepared scribe deeply knowledgeable in the Law of Moses, which God had given to Israel, emphasizing his spiritual readiness and divine empowerment that prompted King Artaxerxes to grant all his requests for the journey from Babylon to Jerusalem, illustrating how God's providential hand upon faithful servants opens doors for kingdom work and restoration efforts.
