I Chronicles 10:13

King James Version (1769)

13 So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;
Untruth

Misinterpretations often reduce Saul's death to mere military defeat, suicide from despair, or inevitable fate without acknowledging the root causes of transgression and necromancy; some erroneously portray consulting mediums as a harmless or desperate but excusable act when God is unresponsive, or shift blame to God for not answering Saul, ignoring Saul's prior choices that severed his relationship with the divine.

Truth

This passage attributes King Saul's death directly to his unrepentant disobedience against God's commands and his consultation with a medium to seek guidance from a familiar spirit, illustrating the severe consequences of rejecting divine authority and turning to forbidden spiritual practices instead of relying on the Lord, emphasizing that sin, particularly rebellion against God's word, invites judgment.
