I Chronicles 13:14

King James Version (1769)

14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obed–edom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obed–edom, and all that he had.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often treat the ark as a magical object guaranteeing wealth or success to anyone possessing it, like a prosperity charm, ignoring the critical context of obedience to God's transport laws and the prior judgment on Uzzah for irreverence. Others wrongly universalize it as a health-and-wealth promise for believers today without regard for covenant specifics, or assume Obed-Edom earned the blessing through unknown superior piety rather than God's sovereign grace in response to faithful hosting amid David's fear.

Truth

This verse concludes the account of David's initial failed attempt to transport the ark, where it safely remains in Obed-Edom's home for three months, bringing God's blessing upon his entire household. The core truth conveyed is that the presence of God, when hosted with reverence and in alignment with His holiness, results in abundant divine favor, protection, and prosperity, serving as a powerful contrast to the consequences of mishandling sacred things and encouraging proper fear of the Lord.
