I Chronicles 15:27

King James Version (1769)

27 And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often arise from confusing David's linen ephod with the ornate high priestly garment, wrongly accusing him of unlawfully performing priestly duties, whereas it was a simple linen apron common for worship; others might see the fine linen as ostentatious display rather than humble purity, or isolate the verse from its context of corrective obedience following Uzza's death, thus overlooking the core lesson on reverent handling of the holy and structured Levitical service in worship.

Truth

This passage depicts the reverent and humble attire of King David and the Levites during the joyous procession bringing the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, clothed in fine linen robes symbolizing purity and dedication to God, with designated roles for the ark bearers, singers led by Chenaniah, emphasizing organized worship, communal praise, and the restoration of proper sacred transport after previous errors, highlighting David's leadership in celebrating God's presence among His people.
