I Chronicles 22:13

King James Version (1769)

13 Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the Lord charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often twist this into a prosperity gospel promise of material wealth for any obedience, ignoring its specific covenantal context for Israel's king tasked with the temple; others dismiss the courage call as mere motivational speech without recognizing its rooted dependence on God's enabling power, or apply it legalistically as earning salvation through rule-keeping rather than as grace-empowered faithfulness within God's redemptive plan.

Truth

David charges his son Solomon with building the temple, assuring him that prosperity and success will follow if he diligently obeys the statutes and judgments God commanded Moses for Israel, while exhorting him to be strong, courageous, fearless, and undismayed, emphasizing that faithful adherence to God's law ensures divine blessing and fortitude in leadership.
