I Kings 11:13

King James Version (1769)

13 Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often portray this as God's unconditional endorsement of Solomon's sins or favoritism without repercussions, overlooking the severe division of the kingdom as judgment; others mistakenly view it as a blanket assurance of eternal rule for David's line regardless of obedience, ignoring the conditional nature of blessings throughout Scripture and the eventual exile due to later unfaithfulness.

Truth

God expresses mercy and covenant faithfulness by not completely revoking Solomon's kingdom, instead preserving one tribe for his son out of regard for David His servant and the chosen city of Jerusalem, illustrating divine grace that tempers judgment with promises even amid profound human failure like Solomon's idolatry.
