I Kings 14:10

King James Version (1769)

10 Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.
Untruth

Common misinterpretations include portraying God as capriciously vengeful without context, ignoring Jeroboam's deliberate sin of golden calves that provoked this prophecy; reducing the vivid idiom 'him that pisseth against the wall' (meaning every male) to claims of biblical vulgarity rather than ancient hyperbolic language for totality; or misapplying it today to endorse personal vendettas or fatalism, detached from its role as covenant warning against idolatry.

Truth

This passage conveys God's righteous judgment on King Jeroboam for his idolatry and leading Israel astray from true worship, promising to utterly destroy his household, sparing neither the lowly nor the prominent, likening their removal to discarding dung. It emphasizes divine accountability for leaders who corrupt faith, illustrating that God's justice ensures no remnant of unrepentant evil endures, calling for fidelity to His covenant amid national apostasy.
