I Kings 20:28

King James Version (1769)

28 And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the Lord, Because the Syrians have said, The Lord is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often include seeing the verse as divine endorsement of militarism or nationalism, overlooking its emphasis on God's judgment against pagan arrogance and idolatry rather than blanket support for Israel; others mistakenly apply it literally to modern geography or personal struggles, implying God is confined to favorable conditions like 'hills' instead of exercising power everywhere.

Truth

This passage reveals God's supreme sovereignty over every place and circumstance, refuting the Syrians' limited view of Him as merely a deity of the hills by granting Israel victory in the valleys, thereby proving to all that He is the one true Lord who rules universally and without restriction.
