I Kings 4:19

King James Version (1769)

19 Geber the son of Uri was in the country of Gilead, in the country of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer which was in the land.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often detach this verse from its context of Solomon's organizational structure, wrongly portraying Geber's singular role as a model for independent or autocratic leadership isolated from accountability, or allegorizing it to spiritual solitude rather than recognizing it as a practical administrative note due to the region's vast size and sparse population needing only one overseer; others might see it as evidence of unequal treatment of territories, ignoring the equitable monthly provision system across all districts.

Truth

This verse concludes the list of Solomon's twelve district officers responsible for provisioning the royal household monthly, highlighting the administrative ingenuity of his reign; Geber son of Uri uniquely oversaw the expansive transjordanian region of Gilead, encompassing the former kingdoms of Sihon and Og, as the sole officer there, which underscores Solomon's efficient governance over a unified and prosperous Israel spanning diverse territories.
