I Samuel 17:52

King James Version (1769)

52 And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often portray this passage as promoting indiscriminate slaughter or vengeance, overlooking its context within God's defensive war against Philistine aggression threatening Israel; others credit human strategy alone, ignoring divine intervention central to the David-Goliath narrative, or apply it literally to endorse modern militarism without discerning biblical calls for justice, mercy, and peacemaking in other scriptures.

Truth

This verse depicts the Israelites' triumphant pursuit of the fleeing Philistines following David's victory over Goliath, illustrating how a single act of bold faith catalyzed an entire army's courage and momentum, leading to the enemy's decisive rout with heavy losses along the way to their gates. The core truth emphasizes God's power to deliver His people through unexpected means, transforming fear into fervor and securing comprehensive victory when His people step out in obedience against superior odds.
