II Chronicles 9:29

King James Version (1769)

29 Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer against Jeroboam the son of Nebat?
Untruth

A common misinterpretation is assuming these referenced works—such as Nathan's book, Ahijah's prophecy, and Iddo's visions—are lost canonical scriptures essential to understanding Solomon fully, thereby questioning the Bible's completeness; in reality, they are non-canonical historical sources cited for verification, much like other ancient records mentioned in Scripture, without implying any deficiency in the inspired text, or claiming they contain contradictory information that undermines biblical authority.

Truth

This verse serves as a historical pointer, indicating that comprehensive details of King Solomon's reign, from beginning to end, are documented in extrabiblical sources including the book of Nathan the prophet, the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and the visions of Iddo the seer regarding Jeroboam son of Nebat, emphasizing the Chronicler's reliance on established prophetic records to affirm the completeness of Solomon's legacy beyond the selective narrative provided.
