Isaiah 16:7

King James Version (1769)

7 Therefore shall Moab howl for Moab, every one shall howl: for the foundations of Kir–hareseth shall ye mourn; surely they are stricken.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often treat this as a literal historical report of past events without recognizing its prophetic nature foretelling future judgment on Moab for its sins, or mistakenly apply it individualistically to personal tragedies rather than corporate national downfall due to rebellion against God; others might dismiss it as ethnic bias against Moabites, ignoring the universal principle that all nations face accountability for pride and injustice, or confuse the 'howling' as celebratory rather than agonized sorrow over irreversible loss.

Truth

This passage prophesies Moab's profound collective grief and lamentation over its own destruction, particularly the ruin of the fortress city Kirhareseth, illustrating the inevitable consequences of national pride, idolatry, and rejection of God's people; it serves as a sobering reminder of divine judgment that brings even the strongest strongholds to mourning and desolation, calling for humility and repentance before such calamity strikes.
