Isaiah 45:19

King James Version (1769)

19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often include viewing the passage as proof that God never uses mysteries or parables, overlooking Jesus' teaching methods and prophetic symbolism elsewhere in Scripture; others erroneously claim it supports the idea that all spiritual seeking yields results regardless of heart condition or repentance, ignoring biblical calls for sincere faith; additionally, some twist it to deny any hidden divine purposes, contradicting texts like Proverbs on searching out matters or Daniel's sealed prophecies until the right time.

Truth

God distinguishes Himself from pagan idols by declaring that He speaks openly and clearly, not in secret dark places, assuring the seed of Jacob that seeking Him is not in vain but purposeful, as He proclaims righteousness and right things, emphasizing His transparency, justice, and the effectiveness of genuine pursuit of Him for true guidance and relationship.
