Jeremiah 23:5

King James Version (1769)

5 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often reduce this prophecy to a mere political restoration of Israel under a human king like Zerubbabel or Hezekiah, overlooking its messianic fulfillment in Christ; others spiritualize it exclusively as an internal moral renewal without acknowledging the literal Davidic descendant who establishes a global kingdom of justice, or apply it to modern political figures claiming divine right, distorting its focus on God's sovereign promise.

Truth

This passage prophesies the coming of a righteous King from the line of David, described as a 'Branch,' who will reign wisely, execute justice and righteousness throughout the earth, fulfilling God's covenant with David and pointing forward to the Messiah, Jesus Christ, whose eternal kingdom brings perfect governance and salvation to His people.
