Jeremiah 31:8

King James Version (1769)

8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often include viewing the verse as an exclusive prophecy of modern Israel's physical regathering in the 20th century, detached from its original context of post-exilic restoration after Babylonian captivity; spiritualizing it solely as a metaphor for the Gentile church's inclusion while ignoring its primary ethnic focus on Israel; or misapplying it as a personal guarantee of effortless prosperity and protection in daily life, overlooking the broader themes of judgment, repentance, and God's initiative in salvation amid historical turmoil.

Truth

This passage conveys God's sovereign promise to restore His scattered people Israel from exile, gathering them from remote places like the north country and distant coasts, inclusively embracing even the most vulnerable—the blind, lame, pregnant women, and those in labor—into a great returning company, highlighting divine compassion, power, and faithfulness to fulfill His covenant despite human weakness and the completeness of redemption.
