Jeremiah 36:2

King James Version (1769)

2 Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often treat this as a generic command for anyone to write personal revelations or self-help books, ignoring its specific prophetic context of recording God's judgments for national accountability; others erroneously see it as the Bible's first written prophecy, disregarding prior scriptural records like those of Moses, or mistakenly believe the later burning of the scroll by King Jehoiakim nullifies its message, when God promptly orders its meticulous recreation, underscoring the indestructibility of His word.

Truth

God instructs Jeremiah to create a scroll compiling all the prophetic words He has spoken through him since the days of Josiah, targeting judgments against Israel, Judah, and surrounding nations, emphasizing the divine imperative to preserve and publicly proclaim Scripture for the purpose of invoking repentance and potentially averting calamity, highlighting the written word's role in God's redemptive plan.
