Jeremiah 43:8

King James Version (1769)

8 Then came the word of the Lord unto Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,
Untruth

Misinterpretations often include seeing this as God's approval of the Jews' escape to Egypt, implying divine blessing on fleeing hardship rather than recognizing the context of their rebellion and the impending judgment that follows; another error is treating it as a generic promise of God's presence anywhere, ignoring that it specifically sets up a prophetic rebuke, which can lead to excusing personal disobedience under the guise of inevitable divine accessibility.

Truth

This verse highlights God's sovereignty and omnipresence, demonstrating that His word reaches the prophet Jeremiah even in the foreign land of Tahpanhes in Egypt, where rebellious Jews had fled against divine instruction. It emphasizes that no place or circumstance can prevent God from communicating His purposes through His chosen servant, affirming His authority over all nations and His faithfulness in guiding His people despite their disobedience.
