Jeremiah 52:15

King James Version (1769)

15 Then Nebuzar–adan the captain of the guard carried away captive certain of the poor of the people, and the residue of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often include assuming this deportation spared all poor people, overlooking the next verse's note that some were left as laborers in vineyards and fields; others might read it as the initial exile rather than the concluding one after earlier waves, distorting the timeline; or allegorize it solely as spiritual 'poverty' without acknowledging its historical specificity in Babylon's 586 BC conquest, thus missing the core message of God's judgment on national sin.

Truth

This verse depicts the final phase of Judah's exile to Babylon, where Nebuzaradan deported the remaining poor inhabitants, city residents, defectors to Babylon, and other stragglers, illustrating the complete fulfillment of prophetic judgments against Jerusalem's persistent idolatry and disobedience, leaving the land desolate as God had warned through Jeremiah and others, emphasizing divine sovereignty in executing covenant curses.
