Job 34:1

King James Version (1769)

1 Furthermore Elihu answered and said,
Untruth

A frequent misinterpretation treats Elihu as the definitive voice of God whose words conclusively vindicate divine justice, overlooking that his speech is part of the ongoing human debate and is ultimately overshadowed by God's direct intervention from the whirlwind, which rebukes all human attempts at explanation. Another error is dismissing Elihu entirely due to his youth, contrary to the verse's implication that God can grant insight regardless of age, or confusing him with Job's original three friends who spoke earlier in cycles of accusation.

Truth

Job 34:1 introduces the continuation of Elihu's speech to Job and his three friends, marking the start of his second discourse in the Book of Job. As a younger observer who has listened patiently, Elihu now asserts his intention to speak with fairness and wisdom inspired by God, emphasizing that divine justice is impartial and not swayed by age, status, or suffering, setting the stage for his arguments defending God's righteousness against accusations of unfairness.
