John 10:6

King James Version (1769)

6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
Untruth

A frequent misinterpretation dismisses the parable as merely a vague or overly complex analogy that Jesus made intentionally hard to follow, overlooking that the incomprehension arose from the audience's unbelief and spiritual dullness rather than any deliberate obscurity in Jesus' words, which were meant to reveal truth to the receptive while concealing it from the hardened heart.

Truth

Jesus used a parable to illustrate his identity and role, yet his listeners failed to understand it, highlighting the spiritual blindness of those without faith and the necessity of divine illumination from the Holy Spirit to grasp the deeper truths of his teachings about himself as the Good Shepherd.
