John 12:36

King James Version (1769)

36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often reduce the 'light' to generic moral goodness, human reason, or literal daylight, stripping away its Christocentric meaning and turning the exhortation into vague self-improvement advice rather than a call to personal faith in Jesus; others dismiss the urgency by assuming perpetual access to truth, ignoring the finality of Jesus hiding Himself, which fosters complacency and delays genuine repentance.

Truth

Jesus urgently calls people to believe in Him as the Light while He is present among them, so that through faith they may become children of light—spiritually enlightened and aligned with God's truth—highlighting the limited window of opportunity for salvation before His departure and the impending judgment.
