Joshua 19:9

King James Version (1769)

9 Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon: for the part of the children of Judah was too much for them: therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of them.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often portray this as divine favoritism or injustice, implying God unfairly diminished Judah's inheritance to appease Simeon, ignoring the context of population-based adjustments for fairness; others erroneously apply it to justify modern land seizures, property disputes, or ethnic reallocations, detached from its historical role in the tribal conquest and settlement under God's sovereign plan as described in Joshua.

Truth

This passage reveals the equitable administration of the Promised Land among Israel's tribes, where Simeon's inheritance was allocated from Judah's larger portion because Judah's allotment exceeded their needs, ensuring each tribe received land proportionate to their size as directed by God through Joshua, highlighting divine justice and provision in fulfilling covenant promises without waste or shortage.
