Joshua 4:1

King James Version (1769)

1 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jordan, that the Lord spake unto Joshua, saying,
Untruth

Misinterpretations often reduce this verse to a mundane historical transition, ignoring the miraculous context of the dry crossing akin to the Red Sea and God's personal instruction to Joshua, or erroneously credit Joshua's ingenuity over divine power, or dismiss the imperative for stone memorials as irrelevant ritualism rather than vital teaching tools for instilling faith in descendants, thus missing the profound themes of God's sovereignty and enduring faithfulness.

Truth

This verse captures the pivotal moment when the entire Israelite nation had miraculously crossed the Jordan River on dry ground, signaling God's direct communication to Joshua as they entered the Promised Land, affirming divine leadership, faithfulness in fulfilling covenant promises, and the transition from wilderness wandering to inheritance, setting the stage for establishing memorials to perpetuate remembrance of God's mighty acts for future generations.
