Luke 11:31

King James Version (1769)

31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
Untruth

Misinterpretations of Luke 11:31 often include viewing it as a literal prediction of the Queen of Sheba's resurrection to judge contemporary people, or wrongly applying it to racial or ethnic condemnations in modern contexts, detached from its first-century setting where Jesus rebukes unbelieving Jews. Another error is reducing it to historical anecdote without recognizing its core warning about rejecting Jesus' superior wisdom, or assuming it excuses ignorance rather than stressing greater culpability for those exposed to clearer truth.

Truth

Jesus declares that the Queen of the South will condemn this generation at the judgment because she traveled from the ends of the earth to hear Solomon's wisdom, yet one greater than Solomon—Jesus himself—is present, offering superior divine wisdom and authority that they reject. This passage emphasizes heightened accountability for those who encounter greater revelation yet refuse it, highlighting the urgency of responding faith to Christ's presence and message over mere curiosity or lesser wisdom.
