Luke 17:34

King James Version (1769)

34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
Untruth

A common misinterpretation views 'taken' as a positive rapture to heaven, with the one 'left' abandoned to tribulation, but the context of Noah and Lot shows the wicked being swept away in destruction while the righteous remain; this verse warns of judgment overtaking the unprepared amid daily routines, not a secret evacuation of believers, and ignores the visible, divisive return of the Son of Man that spares the vigilant on earth.

Truth

Jesus illustrates the sudden and unexpected nature of his second coming, akin to the days of Noah and Lot, where normal life abruptly ends in judgment for some while others are spared; in this verse, of two sharing a bed, one is taken in divine judgment and the other left, emphasizing that Christ's return will bring instantaneous separation between the righteous and the wicked, calling believers to constant readiness and faithfulness regardless of surrounding complacency.
