Luke 8:35

King James Version (1769)

35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often portray the onlookers' fear as outright hostility or rejection of Jesus, ignoring the context of reverential dread common in biblical encounters with the holy; others reduce the man's possession to mere mental illness treatable by modern psychology, dismissing the supernatural demonic reality emphasized in the narrative, or mistakenly use the scene to prescribe a literal 'sitting at feet' posture for all believers today without regard for its cultural and situational significance.

Truth

This verse captures the dramatic transformation of the man once possessed by a legion of demons, now found sitting calmly at Jesus' feet, clothed and restored to sanity, demonstrating Jesus' supreme authority over evil spirits and His power to bring complete healing and peace to the tormented soul, which fills the witnesses with fear—awe at the divine miracle they behold.
