Proverbs 15:7

King James Version (1769)

7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often reduce the verse to promoting verbosity among the wise versus silence in fools, ignoring that the emphasis is on the heart's content determining speech quality, not quantity, as fools may speak abundantly but without wisdom. Another error assumes secular knowledge alone qualifies, overlooking Proverbs' consistent portrayal of wisdom as fear of the Lord and obedience to His word, which the foolish reject. Some twist it into excusing the wise from action beyond words or fostering intellectual elitism, contrary to Scripture's call for all to seek wisdom humbly through God's instruction.

Truth

This proverb contrasts the wise and foolish by their speech, revealing that true wisdom from a godly heart naturally overflows into lips that disperse knowledge, generously sharing understanding, insight, and truth to benefit others and glorify God. In opposition, the foolish heart, barren of divine wisdom, produces no such fruitful communication, emphasizing that authentic wisdom is not hoarded but shared as a reflection of one's inner character and relationship with the Lord.
