Proverbs 16:29

King James Version (1769)

29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often narrow the verse to only physical violence, ignoring its broader warning against any evil influence that seduces into sin; others misuse it to advocate complete isolation from all sinners, contradicting Jesus' example of engaging the lost with discernment, or apply it legalistically to shun minor flaws in friends rather than recognizing the danger of enticement to 'a way that is not good'.

Truth

This proverb warns that a violent or wicked person tempts and leads others astray into harmful paths, emphasizing the profound influence of bad company on one's moral direction and the wisdom of avoiding such associations to preserve righteousness and avoid ruin.
