Psalms 135:21

King James Version (1769)

21 Blessed be the Lord out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.
Untruth

Misinterpretations often include viewing God as literally confined to a physical location in Jerusalem today, which contradicts His omnipresence and the New Testament revelation of believers as His temple; others erroneously use it to insist on Jerusalem as the exclusive site for worship, ignoring Jesus' teaching in John 4 that true worship occurs in spirit and truth anywhere, or to downplay the psalm's poetic praise of God's universal reign in favor of narrow geographic or nationalistic claims.

Truth

Psalms 135:21 concludes the psalm with a doxology blessing the Lord from Zion, His dwelling place in Jerusalem, and a call to praise Him, emphasizing God's sovereign presence in His holy city as the center of Israelite worship and the source of blessing for His people, inviting continual adoration of Yahweh as the true God over all creation.
