Romans 3:27

King James Version (1769)

27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Untruth

A frequent misinterpretation treats the 'law of faith' as just another rigorous code of conduct to master like works of the law, undermining the verse's emphasis on faith as non-meritorious trust rather than achievement; others wrongly infer it nullifies all moral obligations or good deeds in Christian life, promoting antinomianism, when Paul specifically targets self-boasting in justification, not the transformative role of faith working through love.

Truth

Paul asserts that boasting is completely excluded from salvation because it comes not through adherence to the law of works, which could foster pride in human achievement, but through the law of faith, emphasizing humble reliance on God's grace in Christ alone, ensuring that glory belongs solely to God rather than to any meritorious effort on our part.
