Misinterpretations of Zechariah 6:13 often limit it to historical figures like Zerubbabel or Joshua, ignoring its messianic prophecy of a single figure embodying both kingship and priesthood; others erroneously view 'the counsel of peace between them both' as two separate individuals rather than the harmonious union of dual offices in one person, or apply it exclusively to a literal future millennial temple without recognizing its fulfillment in Christ's spiritual temple of believers and His eternal priesthood.
Zechariah 6:13
King James Version (1769)
13 Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
Zechariah 6:13 prophesies the Messiah, referred to as the Branch, who will unite the offices of king and priest in perfect harmony, building the ultimate temple of the Lord, bearing divine glory, ruling sovereignly from His throne, and interceding as high priest, foreshadowing Jesus Christ who accomplishes spiritual redemption, reigns eternally, and mediates between God and humanity with the counsel of peace between His kingly and priestly roles.
