Ecclesiastes 7:29

King James Version (1769)

29 Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.
Untruth

A common misinterpretation is viewing this as a blanket condemnation of human ingenuity or technological progress, taking 'inventions' literally as gadgets rather than moral deviations or self-devised ways of sin; another error is using it to deny human sinfulness from birth, ignoring the broader biblical context of original sin while overemphasizing a perfect primordial state without recognizing ongoing divine grace and redemption.

Truth

This verse highlights the core truth that God originally created humanity in a state of uprightness and moral perfection, innocent and aligned with His design, but people have deviated from this by pursuing their own clever schemes, inventions, and sinful paths, leading to corruption and complexity in human behavior.
